The Schnee-Eifel transmitter is a transmitter set up in 1965 by the German radio tower for VHF on the Black Man near Bleialf in the Schnee-Eifel landscape of the same name .
It is 690 m above sea level. NHN and uses a 105 meter high, guyed tubular steel mast as the antenna carrier. The Schnee-Eifel transmitter was the basic network transmitter for the Rhineland-Palatinate West Eifel in the UHF range until the end of 2008 . Since 2004, a filling station for Germany radio has also been operated on VHF .
On October 22nd, 2010 it was reported that the transmitter mast would be shortened from 223 meters to 105 meters. By switching off the analogue terrestrial television, the full height was no longer required.
The Schnee-Eifel transmitter should not be confused with the Eifel transmitter or the Bleialf transmitter , which is 2.2 km southwest of it.
