Serhij Vyacheslavovich Derevjantschenko (born October 31, 1985 in Feodosiya ) is a Ukrainian professional boxer.

Amateur career

The approximately 1.75 m tall multiple Ukrainian champion trained in Mykolaiv . He won the light welterweight cadet European championships in 2001 in Liverpool and welterweight, the cadet European championships in 2002 in Lviv . At the 2003 European Junior Championships in Warsaw , he won a bronze medal in the welterweight division. He was only eliminated in the semi-finals against Saurbek Bajsangurow .

In November 2007 he won another bronze middleweight medal at the World Championships in Chicago . After victories against Victor Cotiujanschi from Moldova (28:12), Oliver Obradovic from Austria (demolition), Alexander Rubjuk from Estonia (23:12) and Argenis Núñez from the Dominican Republic (demolition), he lost in the semifinals against Matwei Korobow from Russia (Cancellation).

In 2008 he started at the Summer Olympics in Beijing , where he was eliminated in the round of 16 against Emilio Correa .

From 2010 to 2014 he competed in the World Series of Boxing (WSB), where he won 23 of 24 fights. He became WSB team champion in 2012 and individual champion in 2011 and 2012.

In July 2014 he made his professional debut in the USA and won against Cromwell Gordon prematurely in the second round. He defeated Sam Soliman in July 2016 and Tureano Johnson in August 2017 .

On October 27, 2018, he narrowly lost to Daniel Jacobs in the fight for the IBF World Championship . In April 2019, he defeated Jack Culcay-Keth , securing first place in the IBF world challenger rankings.

In October 2019 he lost in the fight for the IBF world title against Gennady Golovkin .
