Seydewitz (noble family)

Family coat of arms of the von Seydewitz family

The von Seydewitz family belongs to the Meissen nobility and was resident in Prussia and Saxony .

origin

The family is probably named after the town of Seydewitz on the Elbe in Mühlberger Pflege . Albertus de Sydewicz zu Mühlberg first appeared in a document on May 12, 1299.

The sex is probably not related to the extinct Vogtland-Saxon von Seydewitz from Seidewitz near Casekirchen , two districts of the municipality of Molauer Land in Saxony-Anhalt . They were the owners of the Janisroda , Mechelgrün, Hartmannsgrün and Rodersdorf estates as well as the village of Oeglitzsch and had one (or three) wolf tang (s) in their coat of arms.

coat of arms

The family coat of arms is split in gold and black , in the golden field three (2: 1) natural Moor's heads. On the crowned helmet with black and gold covers a natural carrot's trunk .

Ranks

The older line ( August Friedrich von Seydewitz ) was raised to the imperial baron status in Vienna on July 10, 1731 (“Noble Panner and Baron of the Holy Roman Empire”), and received the imperial count on February 23, 1743 in Frankfurt am Main.
