Heinrich von Seydewitz

Hans Heinrich Wilhelm von Seydewitz (born October 15, 1799 in Gera , † April 19, 1868 in Halle (Saale) ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

Heinrich was a son of the Russian court marshal Hans Heinrich von Seydewitz (1760-1809) and his wife Eva Margarethe Antonie Auguste, born von Ryssel (1765-1829). His father died as a princely Russian major in the siege of Saragossa .

Military career

Seydewitz visited the Cadet House in Dresden and was employed as a Sousleutnant in the Wittenberg Landwehr Regiment of the Saxon Army during the Wars of Liberation on May 1, 1814 . On June 5, 1815, he changed to Prussian service and came as a second lieutenant in the Upper Saxon Landwehr Infantry Regiment. At the beginning of August 1816 he was transferred to the 26th Infantry Regiment and from the beginning of April to the beginning of July 1822 he was assigned to the rifle factory in Suhl . By mid-December 1833, Seydewitz advanced to captain and company commander . He was promoted to major on March 21, 1848, transferred to the 25th Infantry Regiment and on March 1, 1849 appointed commander of the Fusilier Battalion. In this capacity Seydewitz took part in the battle near Bischweier in 1849 during the suppression of the Baden Revolution . Promoted to lieutenant colonel on March 22, 1853 , he joined the 1st Infantry Regiment as commander on June 10, 1856 . There he was on 15 October 1856 Colonel promoted before his on May 17, 1859 farewell as a major general with pension received. He died on April 19, 1868 in Halle (Saale).

He married Klementine von Schlieben (1811-1892) on June 21, 1848 in Flößberg . The couple had several children:
