Sharaud Curry (born May 16, 1987 ) is an American basketball player . After studying in his home country, Curry played as a professional in Europe. After stints in Poland and Greece , Curry played in the 2011/12 ÖBL season for the Swans from Gmunden in the Austrian basketball league . With this club he won the " Basketball Supercup Austria " and the national cup competition and was named the best player of the 2011/12 season. In the 2012/13 BBL season , Curry first played for the newly promoted Mitteldeutscher BC and then moved to the Gießen 46ers. Curry then played in the Finnish Korisliiga , Bulgaria and most recently in the French LNB Pro A , where he played for SLUC Nancy in the 2015/16 season.
Career
Curry moved from his home in Gainesville (Georgia) to study at Providence College in the city of the same name in Rhode Island . For the college team Friars he played there in the Big East Conference of NCAA Division I. After being named one of the five best newcomers to the conference in his freshman year, he had to pass due to injury in the 2007/08 season and played in his fifth College year a fourth season for the Friars. In the season of Curry for the Friars, however, this team failed to qualify for the national finals of the NCAA .
In 2010 Curry became a professional in Europe and initially played in the Polska Liga Koszykówki for AZS from Koszalin . After just two games, the former Bundesliga coach Charles Barton was dismissed and a short time later Curry was also allowed to look for a new club. At the end of the season 2011 he got a contract in the Greek capital Athens with AEK in the A1 Ethniki . However, this occupied at the end of the season the penultimate place in the table and rose from the highest Greek division. For the 2011/12 season, Curry moved to Austria , where he won the basketball Supercup at the start of the season with cup winner Allianz Swans Gmunden. Later they defended the cup title and won this competition for the third time in a row for the club. In the championship they were the first to go to the play-off finals with a home advantage , but in the final series for the championship they had to admit defeat to the Xion Dukes Klosterneuburg and became runner-up. Curry himself was named Most Valuable Player of the past season.
For the basketball Bundesliga 2012/13 Curry was then committed by the first division promoted Mitteldeutscher BC from Weißenfels . In the course of the first half of the season, however, Curry lost his place in the starting five and therefore asked himself to terminate his contract. Later his former Gmunden trainer Mathias Fischer brought him to the league competitor 46ers from Giessen . As bottom of the table, they had to accept a personal bloodletting after a preliminary bankruptcy application and had no prospect of relegation. After relegation Curry moved to the Finnish Korisliiga for the 2013/14 season .
