The Shebenik ( Albanian  also  Shebeniku ) is 2261  m above sea level. A. high mountain range in eastern Albania . It is located in the Elbasan Qark east of the city of Librazhd between the Shkumbin valley and the border with North Macedonia , which is formed here by the Jablanica mountain range ( 2257  m above sea level ).

The Shebenik mountain is around 15 kilometers long and around ten kilometers wide. The main ridge runs from north-northwest to south-southeast. Long valleys have formed on the west side and numerous villages can be found on the slopes near Shkumbin. The area east of the mountain is drained by the Bushtrica , which circles the mountain in the south and flows into the Shkumbin at Qukës .

Around 1200 meters north of the summit Maja e Shebenikut at 2251  m above sea level. A. is the slightly higher Maja e Reshpës , which is 2262  m above sea level. A. achieved. In the mountain range there are several other peaks that reach heights of over 2000 meters, including the Maja e Kudenishtit ( 2015  m above sea level ) in the northwest, the Maja e Dupkës ( 2113  m above sea level ) and the Maja e Buturakut ( 2050  m above sea level ) in the northeast, the Maja e Fursit ( 2194  m above sea level ) a little southeast of the main peak and a few unnamed peaks between the latter and the Maja e Lartë ( 1964  m above sea level ), which are the southern Degree forms.

The mountain, which consists mainly of ultra-basic rock , is strongly glacial , especially in the summit region . There are - some at an altitude of over 2000 meters - several small mountain lakes, including the Shebenik Lake and the Rajca Lakes , and Kare . In the south, on both sides of the Bushtrica valley, there are mines in which iron ores containing nickel and copper are mined.

The mountain lies in the heart of the Shebenik-Jablanica National Park . The mountain region with a lot of forest - especially oak and beech - is only populated on the edges. It is an important refuge for the endangered Balkan lynx , a subspecies of the Eurasian lynx .
