Shin'ichi Yumoto
Shin'ichi Yumoto ( Japanese 湯 元 進 一 , Yumoto Shin'ichi ; born December 4, 1984 in Wakayama , Wakayama Prefecture ) is a Japanese wrestler . He won at the Olympic Games 2012 in London , a bronze medal in free style in the bantamweight .
Career
Shin'ichi Yumoto, whose twin brother Ken'ichi is also a successful wrestler, began wrestling as a teenager in 1994. He concentrates on the free style. He first attended Takushoku University , but is now a member of the Japanese Self-Defense Forces and their wrestling club in Saitama Prefecture . His trainers were or are Hajime Wakui and Hiromichi Itō. The 1.64 meter tall athlete wrestles in the bantamweight category up to 55 kg, while his brother Kenichi competes in the featherweight category (up to 60 kg).
Shin'ichi Yumoto did not make a particularly strong appearance on the wrestling mat as a junior. His first good placement in an important championship dates back to 2006, where he finished 2nd in the Japanese student championship in bantamweight behind Kōhei Hasegawa and in front of Yasuhiro Inaba . In 2007 he came in 3rd place at the Japanese championship behind Tomohiro Matsunaga and Hideki Taoka. In 2008 he won his first Japanese championship title, defeating Yasuhiro Inabe in the final.
In 2009 he was used at the World Championships in Herning / Denmark . He came there to a victory over John Pineda from Canada , but then lost to Riswan Gadschijew from Belarus . Since this did not reach the final, he was eliminated and only came in 13th place. At the Japanese championship in 2009, which took place after the world championship, he disappointed. He lost to Fumikata Morishita in the quarter-finals and therefore only came in 5th.
In 2010 Shin'ichi Yumoto was Asian champion in New Delhi ahead of Nasibulla Kurbanow from Uzbekistan , Lee Woo-joo, South Korea and Yang Kyong Il , North Korea . That was the first international championship title he won. In December 2010 he also won his second Japanese championship. He left Tomohiro Matsunage, Yasuhiro Inaba and Yasuhiro Morita behind.
In 2011 he made his second start at a world championship in Istanbul . He won there over Juri Ledenew , Ukraine , Ahmet Peker , Turkey and Bajaraagiin Naranbaatar , Mongolia , but then lost to Nicholas Simmons from the United States and ended up in 8th place.
In March 2012 he won a second place at the qualification tournament in Astana behind the Indian Amit Kumar a starting place at the Olympic Games in London . In London, he won victories over Kim Jin-cheol, South Korea and Mihran Jaburjan , Armenia , then lost to Vladimer Khinchegashvili from Georgia , but won an Olympic bronze medal with a victory in the consolation round over former world champion Radoslaw Velikow from Bulgaria .
