Sick Scenes is the sixth studio album by the Welsh - British indie pop band Los Campesinos! . It was released by Wichita Recordings on February 24, 2017 . It was produced by John Goodmanson and band member Tom Campesinos! in a recording studio in Portuguese Fridão at Amarante .
production
After the release of their fifth studio album, No Blues, in 2013, all band members took full-time jobs and left the band activities on hold. When it became clear to them that the band's tenth anniversary was coming up in 2016, they started to discuss a possible sixth album together. No Blues fulfilled their contract with their music label and management, whereupon they decided to finance the new album for the first time in their band history. Here, the sale helped by self-designed Adidas - anniversary jerseys . 100 pieces should be sold, over 1,000 were ultimately delivered. Sick Scenes was recorded within four and a half weeks in Fridão, a small village outside of Amarante, Portugal. Because of their jobs, some band members could only record sporadically. The music and arrangements come from guitarist Tom Campesinos !, while front man Gareth Campesinos! wrote the lyrics in the recording studio.

Sick Scenes received mostly positive reviews. The album achieved a rating of 74/100 on the rating aggregator Metacritic , based on 19 reviews.
For Emily Mackay of the British Observer, the album balances the "warmer, more adult sound with a still wild energy" compared to the previous albums. Ryan Dombal of Pitchfork also rated Sick Scenes positively and described the album as "a love letter to the aging one." Indie idealism and to those who their frenzied pop-punk - Sing Alongs . enjoy infringing neuroses and charming specific football references "Tim Sendra of Allmusic called the album" overproduced "and" directionless ", where there are still some elements of their music from the In the beginning he had: “All this leads to an unbalanced listening experience, one that probably only the most committed Los Campesinos! Fans want to experience.” The AV Clubs Alex McLevy also found the album inconsistent, but entertaining: “Although Sick Scenes as a whole does not come together fits, the individual songs are strong enough that it doesn't actually bother. "
For the intro Christian Steigels wrote that some aspects of the album are too pathetic, but that there are many good pop songs to be found. In particular, the song Got Stendhal’s could have been suspected by Steigels in Lorde or Beyoncé .
