Ramona Siebenhofer (born July 29, 1991 in Tamsweg ) is an Austrian ski racer . She specializes in the downhill and Super-G disciplines.

biography

Siebenhofer, who is based in Krakau Ebene ( Styria ), attended the main ski school in Murau and the ski trade school in Schladming . She drove her first FIS race in December 2006. At the Austrian youth championships in 2008 she was best in her age group in slalom, giant slalom and combined. She achieved her first victory in an FIS race on February 12, 2009 in the giant slalom in Turnau . She qualified for the Junior World Championship 2009 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , where she finished fourth in the Super-G, 18th in slalom and 32nd in downhill. Siebenhofer celebrated a first major success at the Austrian championships in 2009 : with second place in giant slalom, third place in super-G and fifth place in slalom, the then 17-year-old secured the Austrian championship title in combination.

In the European Cup Siebenhofer was the first time in February 2009 at the start. She took her first points on November 20, 2009 with 16th place in the indoor slalom in Wittenburg , on December 5th she was second in the Kvitfjell super combination and on December 16th she won her first European Cup race, the Giant slalom in Alleghe . The next day she won the second giant slalom.

After these successes, she came to her first World Cup appearance on December 28, 2009 in the giant slalom in Lienz , but failed in the first round. In her second World Cup race, the giant slalom in Maribor on January 16, 2010, she surprisingly achieved sixth place with the fastest time in the second round. In the European Cup in the 2009/10 season she achieved five podium places and a total of nine top 10 results, second in the overall ranking, third in the giant slalom classification and fourth in the super combination classification. At the Junior World Championships in 2010 , she achieved two top 10 results as fifth in slalom and sixth in giant slalom.

In the winter of 2010/11 Siebenhofer had no result in her three World Cup appearances; in the European Cup she was among the top ten in three races. At the Junior World Championship 2011 in Crans-Montana in early February, her best result was sixth place in the combination. Shortly thereafter, she had to end the season prematurely due to an ankle injury. In the winter of 2011/12 Siebenhofer only made one World Cup appearance and again remained without points, in the European Cup she made it onto the podium twice this winter . With seven starts in the winter of 2012/13 Siebenhofer could not achieve a countable result, which is why it was again mainly used in the European Cup. With three wins and four more podium places, she decided the overall ranking and the giant slalom ranking for herself.

At the beginning of the 2015/16 season , she achieved her first podium finish in a World Cup race in the downhill from Lake Louise . At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , she was tenth as the best Austrian in the downhill on February 21. On January 18, 2019, she won her first World Cup race with the first descent from Cortina d'Ampezzo . One day later, she won the downhill run in Cortina d'Ampezzo again, making it the first ski racer to win both downhill runs in Cortina d'Ampezzo in a row.
