Singer Ricky is the star in a club in Liverpool . He unhooked rocker Steve's blonde friend Mary and was playing in front of a mod audience when the rockers raided the club in revenge. Ricky's rival wants Mary back and attacks the young singer with a knife. Mary throws herself in between and is stabbed. Mods and rockers flee when the police arrive. Ricky also manages to escape. He receives money from a friend and hitchhikes to Paris via London. On the trip he gets to know the young Jasmin and goes to a wedding with her, where he plays for the couple. Jasmin collects money for him because Ricky wants to continue traveling to Genoa, even if she invites him to stay with her.

In Genoa, Ricky hopes to speak to Ambassador Robert Fuller, but learns that he has already gone to Rome, where he works as a manager of an oil company. With the help of the young "Hinke", whom Ricky saves from a group of thugs, he gets enough money to travel on to Rome. In a bar he also meets the attractive Sonia, for whom he plays and whose money he refuses. In Rome, Ricky finally meets Robert, who is his father. The last time they saw each other was three years ago, when the rebellious Ricky left his father to be a musician in Liverpool. Ricky meets Sonia again at the Roberts house. She is his father's lover and will soon be Ricky's stepmother too. Sonia flirts with Ricky, but Ricky becomes interested in Sonia's little sister Martine. When Martine has to believe that he prefers Sonia to her, she separates from Ricky. He withdraws to a club, where he translates his disappointment into music. He starts with a concert marathon and the newspapers will soon be reporting on him. The record is 75 hours of non-stop play and Ricky holds out for a long time. His father, who has separated from Sonia and will go abroad for a long time, pays him respect for his will. A few minutes before the record is set, Martine appears at the club with her new boyfriend. When they leave after a short time, Ricky follows them. He doesn't care about his record, for which he only had to play five more minutes. He misses Martine, but follows her to her house after hearing that it is going to be a sexy evening. He arrives at Martine's house when her friends are making her do a striptease . Ricky storms into the house, beats up all the men and walks away with Martine, with whom he is reconciled.
