Siegfried Kristen

Siegfried Kristen (born October 26, 1928 in Glatz , Lower Silesia Province , † October 27, 2019 in Kiel ) was a German theater actor .

Life

Siegfried Kristen was born in Silesia in 1928. At the age of 16 he was drafted into the Wehrmacht towards the end of the war. After the Second World War he came to Heidelberg , where he worked as an interpreter for the US occupation forces stationed there. He received his acting training at the drama school in Heidelberg.

He had his first engagements in Heidelberg, Mannheim , Munich and at the Kammerspiele Kurpfalz. From 1957 to 1962 he was engaged at the Heidelberger Zimmertheater , where he worked as an actor and stage technician. In 1962, he was by then Kieler director Hans-Georg Rudolph at the Schauspielhaus Kiel committed, where he remained as a permanent member of more than 50 years. Since 1988 Kristen has been the “ chamber actor ” of the city of Kiel. Under the direction of Daniel Karasek , he was made an honorary member in 2003 .

His debut role in Kiel was the porter in Macbeth . At the Kieler Schauspielhaus, where he was on stage without interruption under directors from Joachim Klaiber to Daniel Karasek , he embodied over 300 roles from the classical and modern theater repertoire. His stage characters included u. a. the carpenter sequence in the Shakespeare comedy A Midsummer Night's Dream and Lucky in Waiting for Godot . In the 2000/01 season he appeared as Sandy Baron in Gil Mehmert's stage version of Broadway Danny Rose based on Woody Allen 's comedy film of the same name. In the 2005/06 season he appeared at the Kiel Opera House in the Christmas play Ronja the robber's daughter as the "curious" narrator Glatzen-Per.

Henning Mankell's refugee drama Zeit im Dunkeln (2003, with Vera Weisbrod as partner) and the Jewish Amsterdam baker Hans in Sixteen Injured by Eliam Kraiem (premiere: 2006/07 season) were among his important age roles at the Kieler Schauspielhaus . In the 2007/08 season he played old Harry Frommermann in the musical Comedian Harmonists II . In 2009 he was the old miner and band leader Danny in the ensemble piece Brassed Off - With timpani and trumpets at the side of Zacharias Preen and Rainer Jordan . He played his last role in 2010 in Liliom by Ferenc Molnár .

Kristen was also active on various committees at the Kiel Theater, including a. in the stage cooperative, in the staff council and in the joint examination committee. Occasionally he also took on film and television roles. He also worked as a radio play speaker , as a reciter and stood out at readings.

In 2010 Kristen suffered a stroke and from then on was dependent on the use of a wheelchair . In 2017 he put his memoirs No theater! No theater! in front. Kristen died the day after his 91st birthday.
