Siegfried Wilhelm Albrecht

Siegfried Wilhelm Albrecht (born October 22, 1826 in Hildesheim , † January 25, 1896 in Hanover ) was a German judge in the Kingdom of Hanover and in the Kingdom of Prussia . As a member of the National Liberal Party , he was a member of the Reichstag before and after the founding of the German Empire .

Life

From 1844 to 1848 Albrecht studied law at the Georg-August University in Göttingen . In 1852 he became a higher court attorney in Hanover. In 1854 he was elected to the State Assembly of the Kingdom of Hanover . There he represented Emden from 1854 to 1855 and then Hildesheim until 1866. In 1857 he was elected to the municipal council of Hanover, which he chaired from 1863.

Albrecht was a co-founder of the German National Association in 1859 . In 1867 he was elected to the Reichstag (North German Confederation) and from 1871 to 1878 to the Reichstag (German Empire) . The constituency of the Province of Hanover 11 (Einbeck-Uslar-Osterode) always chose him there . In the Reichstag, Albrecht was chairman of the petitions commission.

Albrecht broke with the National Liberals in 1878 and gave up all mandates to become a judge at the Prussian Higher Administrative Court, founded in 1877 . The Prussian civil service law required officials to be impartial. He retired in 1893 at the age of 67 because of a heart disease .
