Siemens Orchestra Erlangen in the Heinrich-Lades Hall

In 1948, a string quartet developed into a chamber orchestra, which performed for the first time in 1950 as the Siemens Orchestra Erlangen . It now has 80 participants, plays with a symphonic line-up and is an integral part of the cultural life of the university and Siemensstadt. In addition to concerts in Erlangen , the orchestra gives guest performances in the region and abroad. Even today, the majority of the members are employees or relatives of the group. The orchestra is self- financed as an independent, non-profit association and a member of the Siemens Erlangen leisure community and the Federal Association of German Lover's Orchestra .

Goal setting

All members play on a voluntary basis and free of charge. The Siemens Orchestra Erlangen performs regularly in the town hall, the Heinrich-Lades-Halle , and - open-air - in the park of the Siemens sports and leisure facility. Children, youth, family and church concerts as well as public or private festive events complete the range of activities of the orchestra. Musically, a broad spectrum is covered, from classical to contemporary works to upscale light music.
