The type 105 is a multi-purpose cargo ship type from the Sietas shipyard in Hamburg-Neuenfelde . From 1979 to 1983 four units of this series were built, two of them in the version of the sub-type 105a.

history

The Kollmar- based correspondent shipping company Hermann Wulff ordered the first two ships of the series . The ships were owned by two shipping companies belonging to the group . The keel-laying of the type ship took place on May 21, 1979. It floated up in the dock on June 12 as Lady Bos and was delivered from the shipyard on July 17, 1979. The structurally identical Figaros were delivered on May 9, 1980. Both ships were put into service for the shipping company Aros-Lines, which belonged to the Swedish Sten Siöwall AB.

In the early 1980s, the Wischhafen shipowners John Lührs and Reimer Wolter each commissioned another Type 105 ship. The two new buildings differed in some details from the other two units and were given the type designation 105a. The first ship of the subtype 105a was launched on April 4, 1983 as Saturnus and was delivered on May 11, 1983 with the charter name Craigavad . The delivery of the name Neptunus baptized sister ship took place on 16 June 1983 the name Craigantlet . Initially, both units were used as container feeder ships for the British shipping company Coastal Container Services Limited on liner services in the Irish Sea , including between Liverpool-Garston and Belfast .

On September 21, 2004, the Fagervik (formerly Figaros ) got into distress about 15 nautical miles north of Ameland after her timber cargo slipped on deck in heavy seas. The seven crew members gave up the ship and were rescued by helicopter. The Fagervik , drifting at a heel of 45 degrees , was hooked on by the Dutch tug Hunter (IMO 7224899) and towed to Eemshaven .

The two ships of the basic type 105 have been used as Taxiarchis (formerly Lady Bos ) and since 2018 as Paros (formerly Figaros ) by two Greek shipping companies as mini bulkers since 2017 . They were each equipped with a movable excavator for this purpose . The Saturnus arrived on April 21, 2012 as Soul Sound for demolition at Van Heyghen Recycling in Ghent . Their scrapping was completed in July 2012. After several changes of ownership in 2013, the former Neptunus went to the Romanian shipping company Karazi Shipping, which had it converted into the Karazi cattle transporter .

The ships of the series were built in section . The basic type 105 has a total length of 80.32 m (73.37 m Lpp , 76.86 m freeboard length ) and a width of 13.83 m. Its height from the keel to the upper deck is 8.15 m. The 6.57 m high box-shaped cargo space has a volume of 3,715 m³ (3,681 m³ ball space) and is equipped with reinforced folding hatch covers . The hatch of the hold is 50.60 m long and 11.18 m wide. The basic type 105 can stow up to 136  20-foot standard containers (TEU), 80 TEU of which in two layers on deck. The two units of the subtype 105a have a differently shaped nose with steep leaking Steven and m to 77.96 shortened overall length (73.39 m Lpp, 75.68 m freeboard length). They have a folding bridge mast so that smaller container cranes can also be approached. Their container capacity is 132 TEU.

The two ships of the basic type were measured with 499 GRT and around 1,900  dwt on delivery  , the two of the sub-type 105a with 499 GRT and around 1,880 dwt. In 1994 the Lady Bos with 2,041  GT , the Figaros with 2,050 GT and the two ships of the sub-type 105a with 2,046 GT each took place. In the 2000s, the basic type ships were registered with a deadweight of 3,254 dwt. Her maximum draft increased from 5.04 m to 6.55 m.

The basic type 105 is driven by a 1,100  kW (1,496  hp ) six-cylinder four-stroke diesel engine of the type MaK 6MU 452AK, which acts on a fixed-pitch propeller . The two units of the sub-type 105a received a nine-cylinder four-stroke diesel engine of the type Deutz SBV 9M 628 with 735 kW (999 PS) output. For docking and casting off maneuvers, the ships have an electrically powered bow thruster with an output of 147 kW (Type 105) or 184 kW (Type 105a). There are two diesel generators on board to generate electricity .
