Sigmund Hein

Sigmund Hein (born February 6, 1868 in Freiwaldau , Austrian Silesia , † December 16, 1945 in Vienna ) was an Austrian lepidopterist .

Life

Sigmund Hein, born in Freiwaldau 1868, was after the cadet school in Liebenau had graduated, a career officer in the Kuk Army . In 1905 he was promoted to captain and retired as colonel after the First World War . He settled in Linz , where he was the chairman of the “entomological working group” .

Sigmund Hein died in Vienna in 1945 at the age of 77.

Act

Changing garrisons during his military career, such as those in Sandschak Novi Pazar , Graz , Marburg an der Drau , Görz , Imst , Jungbunzlau , Cavalese or Olmütz , made it possible for him to compile a rich collection of butterflies from various regions of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy . Hein also successfully raised butterflies. He was particularly interested in the geometrids and here the genus Eupithecia .
