Simon Tischer (born April 24, 1982 in Mutlangen ) is a German national volleyball player .

Career

Simon Tischer started his career at DJK Schwäbisch Gmünd. From 1998 to 2002 he played for SV Fellbach and TSV Schmiden . Then he went to Maoam Mendig . During this time, the setter also made his debut in the German national team . In 2004 he moved to VfB Friedrichshafen . With the club he won the double from the DVV Cup and the German championship three times in a row. In 2007 he won the Champions League . In the national team, Tischer became a regular in the 2005 European League . There was a ninth place at the 2006 World Cup and a fifth place at the 2007 European Championship .

In the 2007/08 season, Tischer was also Greek champion with Iraklis Thessaloniki . At the 2008 Olympic Games , he came in ninth place with the DVV selection. The 2009 European Championship ended in sixth place. In 2009 Tischer moved to Olympiacos Piraeus and was also Greek champion there. He finished the 2010 World Cup in eighth place. He then moved to Turkey to Ziraat Bankası Ankara . In the 2011/12 season he played for the Russian club VK Dynamo Krasnodar . At the second Olympic participation in London in 2012 , he finished fifth with Germany. In 2012/13 he played for the Polish club Jastrzębski Węgiel . At the EM 2013 he was sixth with Germany. The following season he played volleyball in the French league with ASUL Lyon .

In 2014 Tischer returned to VfB Friedrichshafen. With the club he won the next double from the DVV Cup and championship that season. After a spinal disc operation, Tischer was canceled for the first half of the 2015/16 season. Friedrichshafen was eliminated in the cup quarter-finals and became German runner-up . In the 2016/17 season, Tischer won the DVV Cup again with Friedrichshafen and was again German runner-up . The same results were achieved in the following season. At the end of the 2017/18 season, Tischer ended his career. With his 210 international matches, he is one of Germany's record national players.
