Simon de Lalaing
Simon de Lalaing (* around 1405 ; † March 10, 1476 ) is the son of Othon de Lalaing and Yolande de Barbançon. He was Seigneur de Montigny , Saint-Christophe and Hantes, but above all as chamberlain and governor a long-time confidante of the Dukes of Burgundy.
Life
As the youngest son of the family, he was scheduled for a career in the Church: from 1428 to 1432 he was provost in Valenciennes . On the other hand, he was accepted into the Order of the Golden Fleece (Diploma No. 27) on November 30, 1431, at the first chapter in Lille , and in the following year, 1432, was one of the signatories of a peace treaty between the Dukes of Burgundy and Lorraine. As captain of the town and castle of Sluis (L'Écluse) he was able to repel the siege in 1435, as well as captain of Oudenaarde in 1452.
He was among other things chamberlain to the dukes Philip the Good and Charles the Bold , Bailli of Amiens , Admiral of Flanders (1436–1462) and Grand Hunter (Grand veneur). On behalf of the Duke, he and Jean de Croy brokered the reconciliation between the Dauphin Ludwig and his father, King Charles VII , and then also took part in the coronation of Ludwig in Reims in 1461.
Simon de Lalaing died on March 10, 1476 and was buried in Deinze Abbey .

Simon de Lalaing married on June 11, 1441 Jeanne de Gavre, heiress of Brakel and Zalardinge (today part of Geraardsbergen ), a daughter of Arnold VII, Lord of Schoorisse (Escornaix), and Marie d'Aumont; she died on May 29, 1478 and was also buried in Deinze. Your children were:
