Josse de Lalaing
Josse de Lalaing ( nl. Joost van Lalaing , * probably around 1442; † August 5, 1483 during the siege of Utrecht ) was governor of Holland and Zealand from 1480 to 1483. He was the eldest son of Simon de Lalaing and Jeanne de Gavre who married in 1441.
Life
Josse de Lalaing became Seigneur de Montigny and Hantes as heir of his father († 1476), and Lord of Brakel and Zalardinge (now part of Geraardsbergen ) as heir to his mother († 1478). In 1481 he also bought the family estate, Lallaing .
He was councilor and chamberlain in the service of Duke Charles the Bold and later of Archduke Maximilian of Austria . In 1462 he became Admiral of Flanders as successor to his father, in 1474 Grand Bailli of Flanders, in 1477 he fought in the Battle of Nancy , in which Duke Charles fell and he was taken prisoner. In 1480 he became the governor of Holland and Zealand as the successor to Wolfhart VI. von Borsselen , who was no longer up to the task. In 1478 Maximilian elected him a knight in the Order of the Golden Fleece . At the religious festival in 1481, he took the oath of acceptance on behalf of the little Duke Philip (the handsome) , the then three-year-old son of Duke Maximilian, and thereby also promised to instruct Philip for a life as a virtuous knight of the order.
Josse fell on August 5, 1483 during the siege of Utrecht and was buried in Deinze .

Josse de Lalaing married Bonne de la Viefville, mistress of Sains, Herle, Tangris, Maurepas etc. in 1462, daughter and heiress of Louis de la Viefville and Marguerite Cotte. She died on March 2, 1503 in Arras and was buried there in the Sainte-Claire church. Your children were:
