Škoda 7Ev is the type designation for a series of low-floor electric multiple units from the Czech manufacturer Škoda Vagonka , a subsidiary of Škoda Transportation as Škoda markets the series under the name “RegioPanter” or “InterPanter” for the long-haul version.

The first customer for these vehicles is the state-owned Czech railway company České dráhy (ČD), which ordered a total of 19 multiple units in various configurations in 2011. The first two prototypes were presented to the public on November 3, 2011 at the Škoda headquarters in Plzeň .

technical features

Exit of the ČD 440.009 in Hradec Králové hlavní nádraží (2013)

The smallest operational unit of the 7Ev series consists of two closely coupled railcars, each with a driver's cab at only one end. Configurations as two, three and four-part units are possible. An advertising brochure also mentions five- and six-part configurations. 65 percent of the passenger space is low-floor. The entry height of the low-floor entrances is measured at 550 mm above the top of the rails.

The opening of the doors is 1500 mm or 1300 mm wide.

The car body is up to the cabs from a large area drawn aluminum profiles. Each railcar has a motor and a running bogie.

According to an announcement in April 2016, the trains are to be equipped with ETCS .

Electrical part

The vehicles for 25 kV operation have a Siemens transformer type EFAT6145 (7EV) with an output of 2 × 640 kVA. The output voltage is 1878 V and the output current is 341 A. Together with the coolant, the transformer weighs 2.8 t. The three-phase traction motors of the type Škoda ML 3942 K / 4 achieve an output of 340 kW each. The feedback of braking energy into the contact line is provided. The electrical and pneumatic equipment was placed on the roof.

Orders

Czech Republic

Regional traffic

So far, only ČD vehicles of type 7Ev have received. On January 14, 2011, ČD ordered a total of 15 three-car and 4 two-car trains for CZK 2.511 billion . 40 percent of the purchase price was financed through a regional funding program of the European Union. The first vehicle was presented in November 2011. The vehicles were delivered to ČD in the period from the second half of 2012 to the end of 2014. In September 2012 the prototype 440.001 was exhibited at the InnoTrans in Berlin. The new vehicles on the U1 line ( Děčín hl. N.– Most ) have been in use as planned since autumn 2012 and replace the trains hauled by locomotives that were previously in service there.

In September 2017, ČD ordered a further nine vehicles from the 650 series, which are to be used on the Plzeň – Horažďovice route from the end of 2018. The class 440 multiple units, which so far have mainly been used in Ústecký kraj, are to be converted into dual-system vehicles of the 640 series by 2021. This is mainly due to the electrification of the Kadaň-Prunéřov – Kadaň line with alternating voltage 25 kV 50 Hz and the long-planned passage of trains from Děčín.

In December 2019, the Jihomoravský kraj signed a contract for the delivery of 31 four-part multiple units for use in urban traffic around Brno, which are to replace the outdated trains of the ČD class 560 there . The agreement has a financial volume of 6.5 billion crowns.

Long-distance transport

In August 2014, ČD also ordered 14 vehicles for domestic long-distance transport. The order comprises ten five-part and four three-part multiple units with a top speed of 160 km / h, which will be usable under both of the existing power systems in the Czech Republic. The first vehicle was presented on June 25, 2015 in Velim. In contrast to the regional series, the trains from ČD and Škoda are advertised as "InterPanter". On November 4, 2015, the first vehicles went into scheduled operation on the Olomouc - Přerov - Břeclav - Brno route.

Germany

The railway company National Express took part in the tender for the operation of the Nuremberg S-Bahn from 2018 and ordered 38 five-part trains with 425 seats from Škoda. The order was worth around € 360 million. At the beginning of February 2015, the Bavarian Railway Company announced the prize for both lots. However, the competitor lodged an objection. As a result, National Express announced in October 2016 that due to the delays in the award procedure, it was not possible to start operations on time and that the operator of the Nuremberg S-Bahn was therefore withdrawing. The order for Škoda was canceled.

Slovakia

The Slovak state railway company Železničná spoločnosť Slovensko (ZSSK) ordered a total of 25 multiple units for regional transport in March 2018, which are to be built in cooperation with the Slovakian railway repair shop ŽOS Trnava . The order was made for 13 three-part trains with 247 seats and 12 four-part trains with 343 seats in a two-system design (3 kV direct voltage / 25 kV 50 Hz alternating voltage) and with a maximum speed of 160 km / h. The contract has a total volume of 160 million euros. The first two completed multiple units were transferred to the Velim test ring in July 2019.

Latvia

On July 30, 2019, the Latvian state railway company Pasažieru vilciens ordered a total of 32 multiple units to be used in local traffic from Riga to Aizkraukle, Tukums, Skulte and Jelgava. The contract is worth over six billion crowns. The trains are scheduled to be delivered between 2020 and 2023.
