The Slovak Hockey Hall of Fame ( Slovak : Sieň slávy slovenského hokeja ) is the national Hockey - Hall of Fame of Slovakia . This honors players, coaches and officials who have made a contribution to ice hockey in Slovakia. The Hall of Fame opened on November 30, 2002 after the Slovak national ice hockey team won the gold medal at the 2002 Ice Hockey World Championship . The Hall of Fame was originally located in Bratislava Castle ( Bratislavský hrad ), but was integrated into the Slovak National Museum in Bratislava in April 2004 .

The selection committee of the Hall of Fame includes successful players and coaches, media representatives and members of the Slovak Ice Hockey Federation :

Selection criteria

player

Players who are admitted to the Hall of Fame must meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Winning a medal at the Winter Olympics
  • World Champion or winning the Stanley Cup
  • Winning several world championship medals
  • longtime NHL player
  • 50 international matches or 50 international goals for Slovakia
  • at least three Czech or Slovak championship titles with at least 300 extraliga games
  • outstanding achievements for the development of the Slovak ice hockey sport

Teams

To be accepted into the Hall of Fame, a team must win a gold medal at Winter Olympics or World Championships. In exceptional cases, club teams can also be included if they represent Slovakia in an exceptional way at international tournaments.

Trainer

Trainers who are inducted into the Hall of Fame must meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • National coaches who have won at least one Olympic or World Championship medal
  • successful club coaches who have made an outstanding contribution to the promotion of young talent or the further development of the sport

referee

The following criteria apply to the admission of referees:

  • at least 500 league games
  • International games management
  • Engagement in the referee committee of the association or the IIHF

Journalists

Journalists and other media representatives are accepted if they have made outstanding contributions to the promotion of Slovak ice hockey in the course of their work or if they are involved in the association or the IIHF.

Managers and others

In addition, former players can be included who have made outstanding contributions to the development of Slovak ice hockey in the Ice Hockey Federation or the IIHF or who have made outstanding contributions to the development of their club as managers.
