occupation

Sound of Noise is a musical comedy from 2010. screenwriter and director took Ola Simonsson and Johannes Stjärne Nilsson . The film tells the story of six musicians who play illegally together in several locations in the city. The film follows the 2001 film Music for One Apartment and Six Drummers , which was produced by the same contributors and follows the same concept. The title is based on the manifesto of the Italian futurist Luigi Russolo "L'arte dei Rumori" ( English The Art of Noises ).

action

A group of six anarchic musicians, led by Sanna Persson and a conductor named Magnus, decided to swarm out to make music with objects that "normally" are not associated with music. They are planning a concert at four different locations in the city, each of which is given humorous names. However, beforehand they carefully planned which objects could be used for the sounds. The whole time the group is watched by a non-musical police officer named Amadeus Warnebring, who was born into an aspiring family of musicians. He hates the sound of music himself.

The group begins their concert in an operating theater , where, among other things, they use a well-known TV presenter as a sound object who is in hospital because of hemorrhoids . The next part takes place in the counter and waiting room of a bank . Among other things, the group shreds banknotes to imitate the sound of a bass . The next piece takes place in front of the opera, where the group uses bulldozers to knock them into a well. For the crescendo , the statue of the fountain is knocked over, whereupon it falls to the ground. The last piece is played on tensioned, hanging high-voltage cables , which are played like violin strings .

At some point, Warnebring comes to the realization that he no longer perceives the noises that the musicians are playing. At that moment he made a plan, according to which he would get the musicians to use the whole city as an instrument, because he controlled the energy supply rhythmically. The plan is successful: Persson notices that the city noises around them are slowly becoming musical. Warnebring, on the other hand, is freed from all tones. The film ends with the musicians fleeing the city and playing as a lounge act while Warnebring is enjoying a quiet concert somewhere.

production

The music was composed by Magnus Börjeson and was completed by Fred Avril. The impulse for the film was given by BLISS in France and produced together with Dfm fiction. The film received a grant of 10 million Swedish crowns from the Swedish Film Institute . The film was shot in Cinemascope . The location was mainly Malmö .
