The Stöhrhaus is an alpine club hut of the Berchtesgaden section of the German Alpine Club in the Berchtesgaden Alps on the Untersberg massif , Berchtesgadener Land district , Bavaria ( Germany ).
history
The 1898 to 1901 built and extended several times Stöhrhaus at 1894 m above sea level. NN is a popular day destination for persevering mountain hikers, but also an important base for mountain climbers who experience the sunset and can cross the entire Untersberg after an overnight stay. From the shelter there are wide views of the Hochkalter , Watzmann , Steinernes Meer and Hohen Göll as well as the surrounding valleys. In winter , a ski tour from Winkl via the Reisenkaser to the Stöhrhaus and a plateau crossing is particularly worthwhile.
In 2018/19 the house was extensively renovated, in which the rear half of the house was torn down and rebuilt. In the next few years it is planned to build a second dining room.
Geographical location
The Stöhrhaus stands immediately northwest of the summit of the Untersberg, just below or about 470 m (as the crow flies ) west of the summit of the Berchtesgadener Hochthron ( 1973 m above sea level ). It is located high above the valleys around Bischofswiesen , Berchtesgaden and Marktschellenberg and belongs to the municipality of Bischofswiesen, district Bischofswiesener Forst .
