History and description

St. Georg Schanze

Since 1928 there has been a natural hill at the site of today's St. Georg Schanze. After the Second World War (1939–1945), this ski jumping hill was given a 19 m high wooden inrun tower in 1947, which collapsed during a storm in 1958. Today's ski jump was built in 1959 from reinforced concrete in 8 weeks with a 22 m tower height and 43 m arch span. According to various statements, your K point is located at 80 m or 81 m.

Since the extensive conversion to a year-round facility in 2000 with completion on August 25, 2000, competitions taking place there like in the 1950s and 1960s have again attracted many visitors. German Championships and the Summer Grand Prix of Nordic Combined have already been held on the hill . Manuel Fettner (Austria) held the hill record with 89.5 m since August 26, 2000 . On September 18, 2016 Constantin Schnurr (SV Baiersbronn) jumped a new hill record with 90 m.

Plastic covered hills

As early as 1907, small ski jumps made of snow were used for jumping on the Herrloh , with distances of up to 18 m. Ski jumps were built later. These jumps, renovated and rebuilt in 2001, are currently used by the Winterberg Ski Club ( SK Winterberg ) mainly to promote young talent. Her K-points are: K 8, K 24, K 34 and K 44. Peter Cramer has held the hill record with 50.5 m since October 2001 .
