St. Anna (Tanas)

St. Anna in Tanas

The St. Anna chapel is located in the center of the Tanas fraction of the municipality of Laas in Vinschgau . After the location of the new building of the collapsed local church of St. Peter had been chosen so that the residents of Tanas could only reach it with great difficulty, the Chapel of St. Anna was built in Tanas towards the end of the 17th century. It made sense because the school and the (now vacant) Widum were still in the village. The chapel was only used for worship on weekdays, but was not a pastoral church. It was mentioned for the first time in 1713. After the Herz-Jesu-Kirche was built, it became superfluous and was profaned . At times it served the fire brigade as a tool shed and as an apartment for the village blacksmith. The interior furnishings, which were not very extensive, were sold, such as the altarpiece to a Bavarian monastery , in order to use the proceeds for the construction of the new Herz-Jesu-Kirche. The church has been consecrated again since 1935.

Building

It is a simple building with a three-sided choir closure. It has arched windows and a small square window on the west side. As the left side of the church is built on a slope with a road running, a wooden porch can be entered from here, from which a door leads to the gallery . A small sacristy was added to the northeast corner on the same side in 1732 . The roof is covered with wooden shingles and is crowned by a wooden roof turret. The little bell is without any inscriptions or decorations. The nave consists of a barrel vault on stitch caps . On the ridges there are stuccoed leaf threads, rosettes and two image fields framed with strings of pearls with the coronation of Mary and a monogram of Mary. The image fields are marked with TS.P. signed. The door to the sacristy shows the inscription:

"17 Thaman Telser as Church Provost 32"

Recovery

In 1935 work began on converting the church into a sacred building. The entrance portal was redesigned from tuff , using the top stone from the old St. Peter's Church. For the sparse interior, they took what they could find. The small altar has been put together from several parts. It consists of a latticework decoration with a Madonna of Sorrows, above which is the framed flag leaf of the old youth flag, which shows the Wessobrunn image of grace. The back is painted with a guardian angel motif. The flag was created by Florian Greiner in 1763 and was restored in 1990.

Extensive renovation work by the people of Tanas was successfully completed by 2011.
