description

The hall church , built from rubble stones , has a flush rectangular church tower in the east. From Romanesque previous building from the first half of the 13th century the tower and parts remained of the nave received. The nave was demolished in 1822 and rebuilt using the old building material. The facade in the east was originally a choir , recognizable by the walled up choir arch . The two pointed, slate - covered eight - sided tent roofs of the tower were erected in 1516. In the bell room there is an oak bell cage with three church bells, the smallest made of bronze was made in 1892 by a bell foundry in Apolda , the two chilled iron bells were cast by Schilling & Lattermann in 1956 .

In 1822 the nave was fundamentally rebuilt, combined with refurbishing the interior . In 1970 the gable roof of the nave was replaced by a mansard roof with dormer windows . The tower has a round arched sound arcade at the same height in the south and north , in the south below the dial of the tower clock . The tower ends in two square essays, between which there is a bell tower with an hour bell and weather vane. The walls of the nave are broken through on the long sides by three high arched windows.

The interior has two-storey, three-sided galleries and a construction-time pulpit altar that fills the area between the galleries. The central room is spanned by a wooden barrel vault. The stairway to the galleries is in the southwest corner. The rectangular ground floor of the tower has a stone barrel vault. In the tower there are two wings of an altarpiece , each with three carved figures from the end of the 15th century. On the organ loft on the west side is built by mouth in Greußen 1,877 organ that replaced the made by Johann Philipp Schimpf 1821/1822 instrument. It has 13 registers , divided between a manual and a pedal .
