history

BW

A remnant of a sarcophagus , which is now in the museum building opposite the church, from around 1080/1150 bears witness to an early church building, a medieval fortified church that was surrounded by a high wall. Inside this wall was the cemetery.

In 1805 the old nave was torn down and rebuilt according to plans by the architect Karl August Schwarz . In 1881/82 a new choir was built, which was equipped with a main altar by Franz Josef Simmler (1883) and side altars from the Marmon art workshop (1882). The four evangelists from the main altar are also in the museum building today. The choir was replaced in 1951/52 by a new transept with a chancel based on plans by the architect Hans Rolli . The modern stained glass windows were made to designs by Willy Oeser .

The parish belongs since 2015, the pastoral unit or parish Letzenberg on to which the Catholic communities of places Malsch , Malsch Mountain , Mulhouse with Tairnbach , Rauenberg , Rettigheim and Rotenberg belong.

tower

The basement of the tower was built around 1250. It is vaulted by a ribbed vault with a stylized rose in the keystone . The octagonal tower structure with a pointed helmet was added around 1530.
