description

The core of the church, which has been changed several times, was built around 1555/1565. The choir tower remained in the building fabric will receive the 15th century. The former portal and the ogival windows were walled up. The church was renovated in 1624 and the tower was raised. Its current slate-covered , pointed hipped roof with dormers for the sound arcades houses the belfry . Two church bells hang in it , one cast in 1636 and the other in 1776. The nave , covered with a gable roof , was almost completely renewed in 1880 while retaining the foundation walls and reusing the old building materials . An added pointed arched portal on the north side was preserved. The original pointed arch windows were reused on the west facade. In the 16th century, a stonemason created the Lamb of God under an eyelash above the portal .

The interior has had two-storey galleries on three sides since 1830 and is covered with a wooden barrel vault. The low choir , which has a groin vault , is separated from the nave by a pointed triumphal arch .

The church furnishings include a medieval block altar . Valentin Ditmar created an altarpiece with richly carved work in 1688. Its architecture consists of a blown triangular gable, which is decorated with foliage, fruits and putti, and is flanked by carved figures. The crucifixion of Christ is also shown. In the predella the Lord's Supper can be seen.

The carved pulpit was built in 1696 by Christoph Meil. In the parapet of her basket are depictions of angels and acanthus leaves . A crucifix comes from the 2nd half of the 16th century. The tombstone for Just Bernhard von Windheim is in the church . A 17th century chandelier provides additional light. The organ with 22 registers , divided into 2 manuals and pedal , was built in 1881 by Julius Strobel .
