The Catholic parish church of St. Johannes Baptist in Zankenhausen , a district of Türkenfeld in the Upper Bavarian district of Fürstenfeldbruck , is essentially a late Gothic building that was converted to Baroque style in 1756/57 . The church is decorated with Wessobrunn stucco , to which Franz Xaver Schmuzer is attributed.

In the northern corner of the choir rises the bell tower covered with an onion dome, which is pierced by numerous glare fields. The square substructure also has a square structure. Change the top floor simple, round-arched sound arcades with twin windows , the upper Blend field is of a pointed arch frieze crowned.

The church is designed as a hall . The retracted, square choir closes with a small semicircular apse . The nave is covered by a flat barrel with stab caps, the western end is a gallery on which the organ is housed.

Ceiling paintings

The ceiling paintings were carried out by Franz Seraph Kirzinger . The holy clan is depicted in the choir and the sermon of John the Baptist in the nave. Both pictures bear the painter's signature and the year 1757.

  • The high altar was created in the first quarter of the 18th century, the two floating angels date from the early 16th century.
  • The side altars date back to the late 17th century. The figure of the Madonna on the north altar is dated to the second half of the 15th century, the sculpture of St. Margaretha on the south altar around 1630. Margaretha, who belongs to the Fourteen Holy Helpers , leads a dragon, her attribute , on a chain.
  • The two panels on the front wall of the choir from the middle of the 16th century were probably originally altar wings. The left picture shows the baptism of Jesus , the right the announcement to Zacharias .
  • The apostle figures on the walls come from Lorenz Luidl's workshop . They were created between 1710 and 1720.
  • The wooden relief depicting the death of the Virgin on the south wall of the nave is a work from the middle of the 15th century.
  • In sign one recalls votive picture from the year 1706 to a fire at the site.
