St. Johannis

The Evangelical Lutheran , listed church of St. Johannis is in Nohra , a district of the city and rural community of Bleicherode in the Nordhausen district in Thuringia . The parish Nohra is part of the parish area Wipperdorf in Kirchenkreis Südharz the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

The hall church was built in the 13th century from lightly hewn quarry stones and corner stones , but changed significantly in the 17th century. It has a polygonal choir and a recessed church tower in the west . There hangs a bell that was cast in 1503. The nave is covered with a gable roof. The tower has an octagonal pointed helmet that is covered with slate . The interior , covered with a wooden barrel vault , has two-story galleries on the long sides and a single -story gallery on which the organ stands. It has 14 registers , distributed over 2 manuals and pedal , and was built by Robert Knauf & Sohn around 1880 and restored in 1989 by the Mecklenburg Orgelbau company . The baptismal font is Romanesque . An epitaph of the von Bodenhausen family dates from 1597, another from 1666 for Bodo von Gladebeck (1620–1681), Lord of Nohra.
