St. Josef is a Roman Catholic branch church in Dorfborn , municipality of Neuhof in the eastern Hessian district of Fulda , which belongs to the diocese of Fulda . It is a branch church of the parish church of St. Michael in Neuhof. The church building is at Friedensstrasse 2.

history

Dorfborn is in the area of ​​the Karmann donation in 747 to Bonifatius and thus to the Fulda monastery . Since it was first mentioned in 1450, it was assigned to the parish Flieden of the Fulda monastery in the Archdiocese of Mainz , Archidiakonat St. Johann in Mainz.

In 1510 it was a village of the Fulda court of Neuhof ( "Castrum Nuwenhof" ) Neuhof Castle 1519. 1787 Fulda abbey , Oberamt Neuhof. After the secularization of the Fulda monastery in 1803, the clerical principality was also dissolved. In 1812 it was Neuhof's daughter church . In 1816 it belonged to the Electorate of Hesse, Grand Duchy of Fulda , Amt Neuhof.

Modern times

The cornerstone of the church was laid on July 24, 1955. Already on July 25, 1956, it was consecrated by the then Auxiliary Bishop Adolf Bolte in the name of St. Joseph the Worker . The Church celebrates the patronage on May 1st. In 2016 the church celebrated its 60th anniversary.

Church building

The church, the plans of which were drawn up by the architect Hans Weber from Amöneburg , is a rectangular brick building with plastered walls and a roof turret . The tailcoat roof is drawn lower over the western aisle. The transverse building with the entrance hall widens the south facade, which is represented by a plaster painting with a representation of St. Joseph is decorated as a worker patron with a bricklayer, miner and guardian angel by Erhardt Klonk .

The interior space is limited at the top by a flat wooden ceiling.

Sanctuary

The concise, colored glass window in the chancel was also created by Erhardt Klonck and shows a representation of the crucifixion group . The popular altar and the tabernacle stele are made of red sandstone .

Aisle

Worth seeing besides the crossroads panels as majolica . the late Gothic Madonna with the baby Jesus and the baroque wooden figure of Saint Joseph with a lily.
