St. Katharina von Siena in Lindern (Oldenburg) is the parish church of the Catholic parish St. Katharina v. Siena Lindern, who belongs to the Dean's Office Löningen of the Diocese of Münster .

history

The peasantry alleviating originally belonged to the parish of Lastrup ( St. Peter ) and was probably 1277-1307 ausgepfarrt . A small, low stone church existed until the 19th century .

The current church was built from 1862 to 1865 according to plans by the architect Johann Bernhard Hensen . According to older information, construction began in 1860, the church was put into use in 1863 and consecrated in 1865 .

The neo-Gothic hall church made of brick has a five-bay nave , which is structured by bundle pillars and equipped with ribbed vaults . The choir has moved in with a rectangular choir yoke and five-eighth end . The upper floor of the west tower is octagonal and decorated with pinnacles and gargoyles .

Furnishing

The carved picture panels of the earlier altar with depictions of the Passion , which were created under the influence of the Master of Osnabrück , were inserted into the neo-Gothic high altar . The large central picture shows the crucifixion , further panels Christ carrying the cross and the descent from the cross .

The oldest piece is the baptismal font with round arches from the 12th century. A neo-Gothic side altar was made in 1870 based on a design by the later church architect Franz Xaver Lütz . Also from the 19th century originate stained glass , stations of the cross and two candlesticks of brass .
