St. Laurentius (Neualbenreuth)
The parish church of St. Laurentius (popularly also called Dom der Fraisch ) is the Roman Catholic parish church of the community of Neualbenreuth in the Upper Palatinate district of Tirschenreuth in the diocese of Regensburg . It was built in the Baroque style in the 1730s and is dedicated to St. Lawrence of Rome (Memorial Day: August 10th). The church is registered with the Bavarian State Office for the Preservation of Monuments as an architectural monument with the number D-3-77-142-10.
history
The parish of Neualbenreuth was first mentioned in 1284. The foundation stone for the construction of today's parish church did not take place until 1730. The completion and consecration of the church by the Waldsassen abbot Eugen Schmid followed three years later in 1733. The construction of the church tower was not completed until 1782.
description
In the interior of the church, the painted mock architecture of the high altar , which dates from the time of its construction, is worth seeing . The coat of arms of the city of Eger , framed by baroque foliage, symbolizes that it belonged to Eger at that time. The ceiling painting shows the Patrona Bavariae sending an angel with a white-blue flag down into the village and placing Neualbenreuth under her protection. This represents a historical fact, since after the conclusion of the Vienna Treaty Neualbenreuth fell to the Kingdom of Bavaria . The ceiling painting in the chancel shows the church patron Laurentius of Rome during his martyrdom.
A special feature in the nave are the two low bulges, where, presumably in echo of the Waldsassen monastery basilica , are the life-size statues of the church fathers and great teachers of the church, Augustine, Ambrosius, Gregory the Great and Hieronimus.
organ
In the second half of the 18th century, the first organ with mechanical action by Andreas Weiß was installed in the parish church of St. Laurentius , which was completely renewed in 1910 by Willibald Siemann and replaced by a pneumatic mechanism . In 2002, the firm Orgelbau Vleugels from Hardheim was commissioned to restore and reorganize the church organ. 17 registers have been incorporated into the new work. The new organ was consecrated on January 16, 2005 by the then Regensburg Bishop Gerhard Ludwig Müller . The arrangement of the instrument, which today has 36 stops on three manuals and pedal , is as follows:
