St. Margareta in Blasweiler , a district of the local community Heckenbach in the district of Ahrweiler ( Rhineland-Palatinate ), is a Roman Catholic church from the end of the 13th century. The St. Margareta consecrated church is a protected cultural monument .

history

The church in Blasweiler is mentioned in the Liber valoris at the beginning of the 14th century . The right to present the appointment of the pastor was exercised by the von Kempenichs . The building from the end of the 13th century has seen little change. In the 18th century the sacristy was added and an organ gallery was built in the west of the nave .

Until 1662 the parish church in Blasweiler was also responsible for Ramersbach , where a separate parish was only established at that time.

In 1939 the church had to be closed because the Ahrbrück air force training area was being built in the area. On June 28, 1940, Pastor Poertner handed the church over to the Wehrmacht , which it used as a clothing store. After 1945 the residents were able to return to their village and on July 16, 1951 the high altar was consecrated .

architecture

The church is a three-axis plastered quarry stone building of about 17.15 × 5.6 m. The choir is from the late Gothic period. The square tower is drawn in and covered with an eight-sided helmet . In the north wall of the four-storey tower there is a round-arched portal and above it in a niche a Pietà . On the three free sides of the bell chamber there are ogival twin windows with corner noses. There are simple pointed arch windows in the choir and nave. A base profiled with a quarter rod and valley surrounds the building .

Bells

Towards the end of World War II , the bells were removed and the oldest bell fell and broke. The transport of the bells was stopped in Sinzig and then they were brought back to Blasweiler. The three bells in the church:

  • oldest bell from the early 14th century with the inscription "IASPER, MALGOR, BALSVSR" (Kasper, Melchior, Balthasar)
  • Margaret bell, around 1400, with the inscription "SENT MARGARETE MECH, CHRISTIANI DUSTERVVALT GOIS MIH ANNO D. MCCCC IN DEN IAR"
  • Bell from 1737 with the inscription "ANNA MARIA MARGARETA BIT GOT FUR UNS 1737".
