St. Martin in Dasing

The Catholic parish church of St. Martin is a monument in Dasing in the Swabian district of Aichach-Friedberg .

history

Probably the 7th century there was a holy already during the occupation of the site end Martin consecrated church. The parish church was first mentioned in a document in 1352. The foundations of the tower are still Romanesque , the rest of the tower and the choir were built around 1360 and changed around 1515. The nave, according Dendrochronological dating to 1690/95 erected 1756 was the Baroque style , and extended by two axes to the west 1938th A Rosary Brotherhood has existed since 1678 , which largely determined the structure of the church.

Building description

The church is a single- aisled hall structure with double pilasters, with a flat needle cap barrel and a retracted choir closed on three sides. The north tower with a square floor plan is provided with arched friezes and a pointed helmet between triangular gables .

Furnishing

The furnishings were created around 1755/56. The stucco is attributed to Franz Xaver Schmutzer . The frescoes are by Joseph Mages and represent the glory of St. Martin as well as divine virtues and fortitude as well as emblems in the choir. The oratorio parapet depicts the death and raising of the dead of St. Martin. The large nave fresco has the rosary as the theme. The church fathers, David and Goliath, Judith and Holofernes and the fall of the vices are shown to the side. On the gallery parapet below there are depictions of repentant Peter, the blessing Christ and the conversion of Saul. Above are the evangelists . The Rococo altars were made around 1755/56. In the high altar there are figures of St. Martin (center) next to St. Dominic and Catherine of Siena . In the side altars there are reliefs of the 14 helpers in need (left) and the donation of the rosary to Saints Dominic and Catherine of Siena, surrounded by cartouches with the secrets of the rosary. The pulpit from 1767 was designed by Franz de Paula Arnold with symbols of the evangelists and reliefs of the Good Shepherd and the repentant Peter.
