St. Michael in Litzldorf

The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Michael in Litzldorf, a district of Bad Feilnbach in the Upper Bavarian district of Rosenheim , belongs to the dean's office of Bad Aibling in the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising . It celebrates its patronage on September 29th.

History and description of the building

The parish church surrounded by a wall was built in 1708 by the builder Abraham Millauer in the Baroque style. It was built on the site of a previous building, which was probably mentioned as early as 770, although Litzldorf was first documented as Luzlindorf in 849 . The church belonged to the original parish of Elbach until 1458 and then to the parish of Au bei Aibling . In 1892 it was elevated to a parish church.

Architecturally, it is a hall building with a retracted choir . The interior of the church, decorated with simple stucco , contains a ceiling painting with scenes from the life of Jesus . It was created around 1870 by the Munich painter Max Fürst . The tower with a dome adjoins the south side of the church building .

Interior

The baroque altars emerged after 1712. The high altar with a rococo - Tabernacle contains an altar excerpt showing the God the Father and the painting of the Archangel Michael . In the left side altar there are paintings with St. Donatus and St. Martin . In the right side altar the abundance of grace from the Eucharist and St. George are depicted. The pulpit was created around 1780, as was the panel painting Penance in front of the Holy Cross . The cross with the Mater dolorosa , the Holy Family and St. John of Nepomuk also dates from the 18th century .

The cheeks with carved dragons made in the 17th century probably come from the previous church . The figure of the diocesan saint Korbinian was created around 1520. The death knell , which was cast in Munich in 1656, and a votive tablet from 1692, with which a Georg Dienzenhofer thanked the church patron and the Blessed Mother for regained health, also refer to the previous church .
