St. Moritz is a pilgrimage church that belongs to the community of Leutenbach in the Upper Franconian district of Forchheim , and at the same time one of seven officially named parts of this community. St. Moritz is just over a kilometer southeast of the center of Leutenbach at an altitude of 433  m above sea level. NHN . It is located in the extreme southwest of the Wiesentalb .

history

The church of St. Moritz, built in a simple Gothic style, was first mentioned in a document in 1465. As a result of the administrative reforms carried out in the Kingdom of Bavaria at the beginning of the 19th century , St. Moritz became part of the independent rural community Leutenbach with the second municipal edict in 1818 , to which the village of Dietzhof still belonged. St. Moritz was temporarily inhabited by a hermit who lived in the associated hermitage. In 1987 the place was uninhabited.

State road St 2242 leads past St. Moritz a little north, from which a short cul-de-sac branches off that leads to the church building. At this junction there is a parking lot for hikers, which is served by public transport at a bus stop on bus line 226 of the VGN . The nearest railway stop is in Wiesenthau on the Wiesenttalbahn .
