St. Paulinus (Welling)
The Catholic parish church of St. Paulinus in Welling , a local community in the district of Mayen-Koblenz ( Rhineland-Palatinate ), was built between 1881 and 1883. It is a protected architectural monument .
history

The church is a neo-Gothic building with rubble stones from the Wellingen quarries. It stands on a small hill in the center of the village and has a length of 44 meters with a total height to the top of the tower of 65 meters. The church, visible from afar, offers space for 750 people. It has a single nave main building and a wide transept to which the choir adjoins. Looking like small apses from the outside, a wreath of niches joins the choir, which are used as a sacristy and chamber of sacraments.
The bell tower rises above the vault of the crossing . A wooden organ gallery is located above the main entrance in the south. Ribbed vaults span the nave, which is brightly lit by twin pointed windows. The choir has large tracery windows that have retained the original lead glazing . The windows, renovated in 1992, depict the life of Jesus.

The pillars of the crossing, the door frames and the cornices are made of Mayen basalt lava . The tracery of the windows, wall services and vault ribs are made of Udelfangernem sandstone and Weibernem tuff . The roofs, originally covered with local slate, were given artificial slate during the renovation in 1981.
Furnishing
Most of the church furnishings come from the old church. On the left choir pillar is the wooden sculpture of St. Paulinus , the patron saint of the church. The figures of the former pulpit , the four evangelists , were attached to the main wall of the left aisle. The neo-Gothic Way of the Cross is on the side walls of the nave.
