The Roman Catholic Church of St. Petrus in Ketten is the parish church of Brebersdorf , a district of Wasserlosen in the Lower Franconian district of Schweinfurt . It is one of the architectural monuments of Wasserlosen and is registered under No. D-6-78-192-6 in the Bavarian Monument List .

history

The Würzburg prince-bishop Rudolf von Scherenberg raised Brebersdorf to a parish in 1479 . Julius Echter von Mespelbrunn , one of his successors, had the tower with the typical pointed roof built around 1610 . The nave was built by Anton Wüst between 1807 and 1808 on behalf of Grand Duke Ferdinand of Tuscany . The name of the client is recorded in the inscription above the west portal.

description

The baroque high altar , presumably created by the sculptor Johann Emes from Kitzingen , comes from the secularized monastery church Himmelspforten . It was provided with two side passages around 1775. In the center there is a painting of the Assumption of Mary . The associated side altars are in Wasserlosen, the pulpit in Schnackenwerth . The side altars and the pulpit of the Brebersdorf church are the work of the carpenter Balthasar Sachs from Sulzthal in 1809 and 1810. The side altars with figures of St. Wendelin (?) On the right and the Mother of God on the left are supposed to be modeled on those in the Church of the Assumption in Sulzthal . Three angels can be seen as putti on the pulpit .
