history

In the 16th century, with the introduction of the Reformation , Parsau became Evangelical-Lutheran. The first church in Parsau was built in 1561, before that the residents of Parsau had to walk the long way to the St. Petrus Church in Vorsfelde.

In 1945/46 Catholic refugees and displaced persons settled in Parsau and the surrounding areas, Catholic services were initially held in the Protestant churches of Parsau and Tülau-Fahrenhorst.

1959 began the planning of a Catholic church. At first it was planned to build the church on a former courtyard property in the center of Brome, but this was not implemented. The church was built by the parish of St. Michael in Vorsfelde by the architect Hans-Heinz Hübscher from Wolfsburg . On July 22nd, 1962, the foundation stone was laid by Dean Antonius Holling, and on June 1st, 1963 the church was consecrated by Bishop Heinrich Maria Janssen . In 1965 the church got its Way of the Cross , and in 1967 the bells followed .

From 1976 to 1984 the church was cared for by the parish Immaculate Conception of Mary in Velpke. In 1985 the exterior was renovated and the heating system replaced, and in 1988 the interior was renovated. Claus Kilian redesigned the altar , tabernacle , crucifix and ambo . On June 12, 1988, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the parish fair, the new altar, in which the relics of St. Justin are inserted, was consecrated by Auxiliary Bishop Heinrich Pachowiak . The organ was consecrated on May 7, 1995 , before an electronic organ was used.

Since November 1, 2006, the church has belonged to the Wolfsburg-Helmstedt deanery, which at that time was formed from the Wolfsburg deanery and the Helmstedt part of the Helmstedt-Wolfenbüttel deanery. Due to the shortage of priests, there have been no weekly Sunday services in the church since August 2018, but only one Sunday service per month, held as the evening mass . In the other weeks there is an evening mass on Fridays.
