St. Valentin (Ecklingerode)
The Roman Catholic listed parish church of St. Valentin is in the Pfarrgasse of Ecklingerode , a municipality in the Thuringian district of Eichsfeld . It bears the patronage of St. Valentine of Terni . The parish Ecklingerode part of the deanery Leinefelde-Worbis in the Diocese of Erfurt .
history
The previous building dates from the 15th century. It was changed in 1679 and 1720, and extensions were added in 1825. The nave and the church tower were rebuilt from 1930 to 1932. On August 13, 1938, the church was rededicated by Johann Baptist Dietz . From 1998 to 2000 the church was renovated from the outside, in 2003 the interior was renewed.
Building description
Of the now north- facing church, the polygonal choir in the east, the tower made of ashlar and the portals in the west of the previous Gothic building have been preserved. During the renovation from 1930 to 1932, a new nave with a wooden beam ceiling and a high gable roof was built between the tower and the Gothic choir . In addition, a barrel-vaulted aisle was added to the west in the interior . The tower received a second floor with handling and a new pointed helmet . It is structured by narrow cornices and has tracery and arched windows . The bells were made by Heinrich Humpert and Petit & Gebr. Edelbrock . The interior of the tower's ground floor and the new choir in the north are flat. The former choir in the east has a ribbed vault with deep caps . On the keystones there is a portrait of Mary and a picture of St. Valentine made of stucco .
Furnishing
In the old chancel there is the high altar from the mid-18th century, restored in 1965/67, with a crucifix between the statues of Valentin and Bonifatius and angels with instruments of passion . The side altar has an oil painting on canvas of St. Valentine. There is also a wooden statue of St. Valentine from the 17th century. On the gallery are the church stalls with cheeks from the Rococo period . The frescoes of the Stations of the Cross in 1931 Wilhelm Geissler created.
The organ with 16 registers , divided into 2 manuals and pedal , was built by Louis Krell in 1879 . It was restored in 1997.
