St Levan (Cornish: Sen Selevan) is a 9.7 km² parish in the former district of Penwith in the county of Cornwall in England . The parish includes the settlements of St Levan, Trethewey , Treen and Porthcurno and is located approximately 12.7 km west of Penzance . It is also on the Irish Sea and borders to the north on the parishes of Sennen and St Buryan (to which St Levan once partially belonged). The place can be reached via the B3315 towards Land's End .
The suburb of Porthcurno is known for its unique bay with the sandy Pednvounder Beach and for its open-air theater Minack Theater . From 1870 to 1970 this place was important for submarine cable communication. The disused facilities can now be viewed in a museum.
Every four years the local council (consisting of 10 councilors) is elected by the population. Higher government agency in this area is Cornwall County Council.
