The states customer is the representation of the states according to their external and internal characteristics. It examines the internationally recognized and permanently state-like countries of modern times as societal communities and as legal systems. The study of states looks at the state and its history , its rulership and influences, its peoples and their customs , its spiritual and secular scholarship, its economic circumstances and foreign relations .

Political studies primarily examines the states , countries and sovereign territories (external areas, protected areas, overseas territories) of the earth that have emerged since the nineteenth century. The states, countries and administrative units recognized under international law are recorded in a comparative manner under certain aspects. These include formal conditions such as the state flag , the state abbreviation and the state name . On the other hand, it includes actual characteristics such as the capital , the seat of government , the population , the area of the state and the form of government .

Political studies also takes account of outsourced properties and national territories, controversial realms and special areas under constitutional law, historical landscapes and independent ethnic groups , stately areas and traditional international legal entities (the Holy See , the Order of Malta and the Red Cross ). In addition, past and present countries that are not recognized under international law are also examined. In the same way, the study of states also covers the interaction of states through intergovernmental relations in intergovernmental institutions .
