Santa Catarina State Championship (women's football)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The national championship of Santa Catarina for women's football ( Portuguese Campeonato Catarinense de Futebol Feminino ) is the club championship in women's football of the state of Santa Catarina in Brazil , which has been held since 2007 by the Federação Catarinense de Futebol (FCF) .

history

The competition for the state championship in women's football was only introduced in Santa Catarina in 2007 to determine the participant in the first Copa do Brasil Feminino organized by the CBF that year . The first title won the AD Olympya from Jaraguá do Sul against the AE Scorpions from São José . The competition was then dominated by AE Kindermann from Caçador , which runs one of the most important talent forges in Brazilian women's football and which maintains the only team based in the state that can play at the national top level. In addition to this exception, the state's women's football is at the amateur level and the level of play of its state championship is correspondingly low, in which the big clubs from the capital Florianópolis do not participate. The field of participants in the championship is also manageable. While six clubs took part at its premiere in 2007, the title was played out between two clubs in the 2014 season alone. There were four again for the 2017 season.

The 2016 championship scheduled for December has been canceled due to the mourning period imposed by the FCF for the crash of the men's team at Chapecoense (see: LaMia flight 2933 ).

The qualification for the second division (Série A2) of the Brazilian championship has been decided via the state championship since 2017 .
