Stefan Evers (born October 10, 1979 in Herdecke ) is a German politician ( CDU ). He has been a member of the Berlin House of Representatives since September 2011 and has been Parliamentary Managing Director of the CDU parliamentary group there since September 11, 2018. Since December 2nd, 2016 he has also been Secretary General of the CDU Berlin .

Life

Evers studied law at the University of Potsdam . He worked as a speaker for the CDU politicians Werner Kuhn and Friedhelm Ost and worked as a freelance management consultant after completing his studies. From 2005 to 2015 he was deputy state chairman of the working group for lesbians and gays in the Union . In 2007 Evers became local chairman of the CDU in Alt-Wilmersdorf and was also district chairman of the CDU Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf from 2017 to April 5, 2019. From 2006 to 2011 he was a member of the District Assembly of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf , where he was spokesman for transport policy. In September 2011 Evers was elected to the Berlin House of Representatives for the CDU , where he was deputy parliamentary group chairman alongside Michael Dietmann , Dirk Stettner and Gottfried Ludewig from 2011 to 2016 . He held this office again after being re-elected to the House of Representatives from 2016 to 2018. He has also been the parliamentary group's spokesman for urban development policy since 2011.

After losing the House of Representatives election in 2016, Evers was elected Secretary General of the CDU Berlin on December 2, 2016 in the second ballot with 54.4% of the delegate's votes. At a regular party conference of the regional association, it was confirmed six months later with 79.6% of the vote. In May 2019, Evers was re-elected Secretary General at the suggestion of the new CDU state chairman Kai Wegner with a result of 79.7 percent of the vote.

Evers has been Parliamentary Managing Director of the CDU parliamentary group since September 11, 2018.

As part of a member survey by the Berlin CDU, Evers campaigned publicly to enable marriage to be opened up to same-sex couples.

Evers advocates combating the housing shortage in Berlin through an active new building policy and in April 2017 criticized those responsible for the red-red-green Senate as a “left building brigade”. In this context he repeated his sharp criticism of the appointment of Andrej Holm as Secretary of State for Construction, which he described in an interview with the Berliner Zeitung as "an imposition for all Berliners".

In May 2017, in view of the continuing violence against police officers in Friedrichshain, he described the alleged perpetrators as "disgusting rabble" and called for the "fumigating" of the "nest of left-wing fascists". The Green Werner Graf criticized the choice of language. Evers then publicly received death threats.

Evers is married and a member of a number of associations. As chairman of the Friends of the Kommunale Galerie Berlin, which he founded, he is committed to the maintenance and work of the district's cultural institution. He is the chairman of the neighborhood initiative “Mein Kiez eV” and a member of the Navy Officer Association and on the board of the Freundeskreis des Einsatzgruppenversorers Berlin eV. As a board member, he is also active in the Berlin Capital Initiative . Within the Europa-Union Berlin , Evers is the deputy chairman. He is also a member of the Bundesplatz initiative, the student association WKSt.V. Unitas Berlin, the Kulturloge Berlin eV, the Unionhilfswerk and the German Parliamentary Society .
