Stefanie Clausen
Anna Stefanie "Nanny" Fryland Clausen (born April 1, 1900 in Copenhagen ; † August 2, 1981 in Karlebo ) was a Danish water diver who won gold in diving at the 1920 Summer Olympics in Antwerp.
In the Olympic qualification on August 24, 1920 Clausen took third place in her group behind the British Beatrice Armstrong and the American Elizabeth Grimes, these three made it to the final together with three jumpers from the other group. In the final on August 28, there were five jumps to be completed: two from a four-meter board and three from a height of eight meters. Clausen scored 173 points, seven points ahead of Beatrice Armstrong, who won silver.
In 1930 Stefanie Clausen married Jacob Nielsen, with whom she had three children. She is the only Danish Olympic champion in diving to date. Denmark only won one Olympic medal after 1920 when Birte Christoffersen won bronze from the tower in 1948 .
