Stefanie Scherer (born May 13, 1996 ) is a German biathlete .

Career

As a junior, Stefanie Scherer won the silver medal in the team competition of cross-country skiers in 2012 at the Nordic Ski Games of the OPA together with Julia Rohrer and Katharina Henning. As a biathlete, she won the bronze medal in the relay race together with Sophia Schneider and Sarah Schaber at the German Championships in 2017 , as the second team of the Bavarian Ski Association, she only had to face the first team with Marion Deigentesch and the world champions Vanessa Hinz and Franziska Preuss as well as the relay of the Thuringian Ski association with Luise Kummer , Juliane Frühwirt andMarie Heinrich defeated.

Also in 2017, Scherer contested her first international race at the European Junior Championships in Nové Město na Moravě . She started in the IBU Cup for the first time in the 2018/19 season . In the last race of the winter, the mass start60, she achieved her first podium finish in third place behind Caroline Colombo and Karoline Offigstad Knotten . In September 2019, she won the silver medal in the relay race at the German Biathlon Championships . She started again with Jessica Lange and Elisabeth Schmidt for the second team of the Bavarian Ski Association, the race won the first team with Anna Weidel , Vanessa Hinz and Marion Deigentesch .

At the beginning of the following winter she was only appointed to the team for the third station of the IBU Cup in Obertilliach after there were several changes between the teams of the IBU Cup and the World Cup after a historically poor performance of the World Cup team in Hochfilzen in the sprint and relay races . She won the first race, the shortened individual race over 12.5 km, with a clear margin of almost a minute over Anastassija Merkuschyna from Ukraine and Anna Weidel .

Scherer is employed by the Bavarian Police as a top athlete and holds the rank of police chief candidate. It starts for the SC Wall, a sports club from a district of the municipality of Warngau in the Upper Bavarian district of Miesbach .
