Life

The son of a teacher and an entrepreneur from Northern Hesse discovered his passion for music while still at school. In addition to classical training on piano, guitar and bass, he began collecting maxi singles and playing them as a DJ at events. Influenced by the remixes by Ben Liebrand , he began to cut his own DJ versions with tape in the mid-1980s .

After graduating from high school, Steffen Harning first studied business administration , but also worked in recording studios , where he wrote and produced music for radio, TV and advertising, and as a DJ in Munich clubs. During his studies he founded his production company MCP Music Production. In 1992 he won a remix contest for the Snap! -Rappers Turbo B. , Which is believed to be his first commercially released production.

In 1994 Steffen Harning founded the Eurodance project Pharao with co-producer Alexander Hawking, singer Kyra and rapper Deon Blue under the pseudonym "DJ Stevie Steve" . Pharaoh's biggest hit, I Show You Secrets, was released in the spring of 1994, followed by There Is a Star in the fall of the same year . Pharao released five singles and two albums and was nominated for the ECHO media award in 1995 as best newcomer . The first two singles as well as the album Pharao were awarded gold records in several countries .

Under the influence of the disco house music style that emerged in London in the mid-1990s , Steffen Harning founded the DJ team Milk & Sugar with the Munich DJ and party organizer Michael Kronenberger in 1997, and shortly afterwards a music label under the same name. At first they only released their own productions on their label, but began to sign other artists as early as 1998. Milk & Sugar Recordings received the Dance Music Award for Germany's best independent label in 2000.

The style of Milk & Sugar is club-oriented house music with disco elements or samples , but also consists of original compositions with changing singing partners such as Barbara Tucker , Ron Carroll , John Paul Young or Howard Jones . Milk & Sugar achieved international chart success with their singles Love Is In The Air (2001) feat. John Paul Young , Let The Sun Shine (2003), Hey (Nah Neh Nah) (2011) and Canto Del Pilón (2013). The single Hey (Nah Neh Nah) was awarded a gold record in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Israel . Let The Sun Shine peaked at # 1 on the Billboard Dance and Club Charts on July 31, 2004. The team has worked as a remixer for Jamiroquai , Janet Jackson , Usher and Masters At Work , among others .

The Milk & Sugar project celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2017 and has so far performed live in over 60 countries.

Steffen Harning also produced and composed with various prominent national artists such as B. Haddaway , Hildegard Knef , Peter Schilling , Thomas Anders and the pop stars band Preluders . In 2016 he produced two remixes for Sarah Connor and the official ZDF song "Arrastão Da Alegria" for the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro .

As an entrepreneur , Steffen Harning founded MCP Production & Consulting as a production studio and artist management in 1994, as well as the independent label "Future Music GmbH" for international licensing of club music and the management and booking of Milk & Sugar in 1997 . In 2015, a new company in the area of event conception was added with the participation in "CLASSARION Entertainment GmbH".
