The Stena Europe is a ferry of the Swedish Stena Line . The ship is used on the Fishguard - Rosslare route.

history

The ship was delivered to Sessan Line on April 10, 1981 by Gotaverken Arendal in Gothenburg as Crown Princess Victoria . On April 13, 1981, the ship was put into service on the Gothenburg - Frederikshavn line. In the same year Stena Line took over the majority in Sessan Line. It was used on the Frederikshavn - Gothenburg route until March 1982 . In April 1982 it was used on the Kiel - Gothenburg route , and in the summer between Gothenburg and Frederikshavn.

In April 1988 it was renamed Stena Saga and received additional cabins. From May 1988 the Stena Saga was used on the route Frederikshavn - Oslo , and Frederikshavn - Oslo - Gothenburg.

In February 1994 the renewed cabin deck at Niehuis & van den Berg's was removed. On March 4, 1994, the ship was named Stena Europe and was used on the Harwich - Hoek van Holland route. In June 1997 it was replaced by the Stena Discovery and rebuilt in Rotterdam near Wilton Feyenoord. From June 1997 it was used by the subsidiary Lion Ferry as Lion Europe with its home port Nassau on the Karlskrona - Gdynia route. In 1998, all Lion Ferry ferry routes and went to Stena Line. Until 2001 the ship was still used as Stena Europe on this route.

At the beginning of 2002 the Queen Beatrix (later Stena Baltica ) and Stena Europe exchanged routes. Since March 13, 2002, the ship has been used on the Fishguard - Rosslare route, until 2007 partly together with the sister ship Normandy , which was scrapped in 2012. Since then the ship has been sailing under the flag of Great Britain with its home port of Fishguard . In the summer months it was used together with the Stena Lynx III , which was sold in late 2011.

Technical specifications

The ship is powered by four Wärtsilä - diesel driven type 12V32. The motors act on two controllable pitch propellers .

Two shaft generators as well as three Wärtsilä diesel generators and an MTU auxiliary diesel generator are available for the power supply .
