The Stena Saga is a ferry of the Swedish shipping company Stena Line . She associated to 2020 between the Norwegian Oslo and Frederikshavn in Denmark .
history
Silvia Regina (1981-1991)
The ship was originally built in 1981 as Silvia Regina by Wärtsilä in Turku for the shipping company Stockholms Rederi AB Svea for the Silja Line . After being launched on October 21, 1980, the ship was christened on April 28, 1981 by Queen Silvia of Sweden and handed over to the client on June 10, 1981. From June 1981 the ship operated on the Helsinki - Stockholm route .
Stena Britannica (1991-1994)
The ship was sold to the Stena Line in 1991. It was rebuilt at the Schichau Seebeckswerft in Bremerhaven and was given the new name Stena Britannica . On June 19, 1991, it entered service on the Hook of Holland - Harwich route .
Stena Saga (since 1994)
Since the large ship on the route Hoek van Holland - Harwich could not cover costs, it switched to the route between Norway and Denmark in 1994 and was renamed Stena Saga .
As a result of the corona pandemic, ferry operations were suspended in March 2020 and the ship laid up in Gothenburg. The ferry service is not to be resumed. The shipping company announced the termination of approximately 1000 employees. It has been on display in Uddevalla since April .
