Stephanie Wagner (born September 17, 1994 in Amberg ) is a German tennis player .
Career
Wagner started playing tennis at the age of six and prefers hard courts. So far, she has mainly played tournaments at the ITF Women's Circuit , where she has so far won a title in doubles.
In 2010 she received a wildcard for qualifying for the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix 2010 and thus her first tournament on the WTA Tour . But she lost in the first round against Sessil Karatancheva with 1: 6 and 2: 6.
In 2011 she competed in the junior singles at Wimbledon , but already lost in the first round against the later top 100 player Irina Chromatschowa with 3: 6 and 2: 6.
At the $ 60,000 Montreux Ladies Open 2018 , she reached the round of 16 with a victory over Isabella Schinikowa , but then had to admit defeat to the top seeded Mariana Duque Mariño .
In 2019 she received a wildcard for qualifying for the Nuremberg Insurance Cup , but already lost in the first round in three sets against Valentina Iwachnenko 6: 3, 5: 7 and 0: 6. At the subsequent Liqui Moly Open Karlsruhe , she reached the quarterfinals of a WTA tournament for the first time with victories over Yuan Yue and Tatjana Maria , but then lost to Italian Jasmine Paolini 5: 7 and 4: 6 in the semifinals .
College tennis
From 2012 to 2016 she played the Hurricanes in the college team of the University of Miami. With 135 individual victories, she had set all previous records of her team and successfully completed a degree in economics as a major and psychology as a minor. In 2015 she reached the semifinals of the NCAA Division I Tennis Championships and the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships , but was eliminated in the first round of the 2015 ITA Masters , as well as the 2016 NCAA Division I Tennis Championships
Bundesliga
From 2012 to 2013 Wagner played for the TC Amberg am Schanzl in the 2nd tennis Bundesliga , and in 2014 in the 1st Bundesliga . In 2017 she competed in the 1st division and in 2018 and 2019 in the 2nd division for the TC Blau-Weiss Berlin .
National championships
In 2013 and 2014 Wagner was Bavarian champion in women's singles. At the National German Indoor Tennis Championships in 2018 , she reached the round of 16.
